Here's a good example of when the sports shield visor idea crossed over into mainstream fashion in the 90s. Then it got refined and took on a style of it's own for the 2000s. By this point they're mainly for fashion enthusiasts looking to source an advanced version of this ravey, hyper real vibe. Of course this look was championed by Oakley making the high end version of this idea.

These have managed to capture a taste of film prop / cosplay feeling much like what Marvel Studios are putting on their characters in the films. Of course those are custom made and have that deliberate element of fantasy. These haven't quite reached those heights but they're actually not that far off. This is aided by the slightly metallic finish on the plastic and also because they are genuinely aerodynamic and sit close to the face like a mini mask.
