We have released this incredible specimen from our 19thC archive. Best known as the double D design for steam train drivers needing to protect themselves from flying sparks and in todays context, those sparks are coming from these pioneering sunglasses and not the train. They have neatly folding side windows that are the same size as the front lenses and were used to then give extra eye protection from gazing at flames the same as welding glasses or goggles. This design is so compelling that modern copies have been made in slightly varying shapes but none have surpassed these originals. They put into context the truth about 'heritage' and make the likes of Ralph Lauren and Margiela's claims to that credibility look like a baby doing sensory play in a bath of dyed blue spaghetti in just it's leaking nappy.
They are relatively narrow but the side windows compensate for this.
Still in very good condition in a black finish frame without rust. The lenses have no scratches.
