The 80s witnessed an increasing need for fancy but not overly imposing belts to go with the pleated trousers craze that was gaining momentum. In this case this would've come from a local designer boutique where you could choose a buckle and separately select a belt of your choice for the staff to attach. That is why the buckle is Pierre Cardin but the belt itself does not have a stamp. In this case the belt is genuine snakeskin and so in that sense this really is a one of a kind combination. Made but the visionary and true genius of design Pierre Cardin. This belt actually represents a moment just before he sold off his interest in his own company and licensed out everything to what was quite a sad effect where the 80s designs afterward became lacklustre at best.
The buckle itself stamped Made in Italy
Can be worn with jeans and trousers. This was originally for men but we have pictured it on a dress to show how handsome the snakeskin is.
The back is a vinyl type material that has become crackled. The snake front however is in perfect condition and frankly that is unusual for snake that has been used as it is not an especially resilient skin and needs to be treated with some respect.
