Mary Quant is one of those brands that is as solidified within the popular imaginations perception of the 1960s as the moon landing is. In that sense to find any original item from her company from that period is practically a piece of social history in it's own terms. So we have a right to be proud to present these remarkable sunglasses.
Made from an ingenious material that is transparent light yellow, as you turn it in your hands you cannot quite work out exactly where the red colour is coming from and yet is is there nonetheless. The dimensions are small enough to fit into contemporary use without any attention seeking fanfare and makes you wonder whether they intentionally future proofed their design for posterity. The transparent frame is contrasted with dark lenses which is an idea more generally 'discovered' in the fashion market some 30 years after these were made.
Made in France with unmistakeable continental flair.
Used and pre owned in good condition. There are surface marks on the lenses which is unsurprising given how much someone must've loved wearing them. They don't spoil the wearing enjoyment but will probably not suit perfectionists.
